About Us
The Community's Investment Organization
Community’s Investment Organization is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to providing accessible, equitable, and trauma-informed wellness and support services to historically underserved and under-resourced communities.
Our mission is to create pathways to healing, access, and empowerment by addressing systemic inequities and removing barriers to critical resources. We aim to bring support directly into communities — through mobile outreach, therapy, reentry navigation, and tangible resource access — so individuals and families can begin to thrive, not just survive.
We believe in the power of community care: when people are supported and given access to tools, knowledge, and opportunities, they can invest in themselves and uplift those around them.

Our Values:
-
Practice with integrity in every action and decision.
-
Prioritize prison prevention and reentry support, centered in dignity and reintegration.
-
Provide trauma-informed, anti-racist, and culturally responsive services that honor lived experience.
-
Create safe, inclusive spaces for healing, learning, and personal growth.
-
Empower individuals to access resources and become active participants in their own success.
-
Foster collective empowerment, encouraging people to support and invest in one another.
-
Actively disrupt white supremacy on individual, institutional, and systemic levels.
Our Vision:
-
To build innovative, community-centered solutions that eliminate resource gaps and improve the Social Determinants of Health — including access to mental health care, employment, education, transportation, and housing — in underserviced neighborhoods.
Long Term Goals:
-
Operate a mobile wellness unit offering therapy, case management, and clinical consultation in the community.

-
Expand access to essential resources like school supplies, food, hygiene products, and technology.
-
Host community events like backpack drives, farmers markets, and neighborhood yard sales to foster connection and mutual aid.
-
Open a brick-and-mortar resource center offering job readiness support, digital access, and wellness programming.
-
Launch a job placement and temp agency program, providing employment pathways and transportation support.

Our Story

Our work began with a simple but urgent recognition: healing does not happen in isolation—and neither do the challenges people face. For many individuals, families, and communities, barriers to wellness are not just personal; they are shaped by systemic inequities that impact access to mental health care, stable housing, employment, education, and transportation.

We exist to help close those gaps.

As a community-centered nonprofit, our mission is to build innovative, accessible solutions that address the Social Determinants of Health and expand opportunities for underserved communities to thrive. This means not only providing therapy, but also connecting people to the resources, support systems, and opportunities they need to experience sustainable, holistic wellness.

At the core of our work is a commitment to meeting people where they are. Whether someone is seeking mental health support, navigating life transitions, or facing barriers tied to systemic inequities, our approach is grounded in collaboration, dignity, and respect for each person’s lived experience.

Our clinical services are rooted in a trauma-informed, culturally humble, and client-centered approach. With experience across integrated healthcare, crisis intervention, and community-based settings, we support individuals navigating complex trauma, life cycle transitions, and challenges with coping. Using a range of evidence-based and adaptable practices—including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, EMDR, and crisis intervention—we tailor care to reflect each person’s needs rather than forcing a single path to healing.
At the same time, our work extends far beyond traditional therapy.

We recognize that mental health cannot be separated from the conditions in which people live. Access to safe housing, meaningful employment, quality education, and reliable transportation all play a critical role in well-being. That’s why we are committed to bridging clinical care with community resources—ensuring that individuals and families are supported not just emotionally, but practically.

Our approach is also deeply informed by a trauma-informed and decolonizing lens. We acknowledge the impact of systemic oppression, racism, and historical harm while actively working to create spaces that center safety, autonomy, and empowerment. We believe in honoring both generational trauma and generational strength—uplifting the resilience, knowledge, and survival strategies that exist within every community.

Through partnerships, advocacy, and direct service, we strive to:
-
Expand access to mental health care
-
Connect communities to critical resources
-
Address systemic barriers to wellness
-
Support individuals impacted by incarceration and reentry
-
Strengthen families and community relationships

We are not just service providers—we are part of the community.
Our work is rooted in connection, accountability, and a shared vision of equity and healing. Because true wellness is not just about treating symptoms—it’s about creating the conditions where people can feel safe, supported, and whole.
And when communities are resourced, heard, and empowered, healing becomes not only possible—but sustainable.
